About BigaBytes
BigaBytes is a personal website that will help me showcase various projects I am working on. It's a place to experiment with web technology, work out new web design ideas, test web content for other projects, and share my personal thoughts with the web community. A few things will always remain the same.
Software
- IT Journal — A FileMaker database that I have written and rewritten several times for different companies I have worked for. I am making two versions available to help others that need a similar solution for tracking IT requests.
- FileMake Templates (Comming Soon)
- Simple Invoicing Systems (Comming Soon)
Technical Stuff
- Developed using an Apple PowerMac G5 running Mac OS X — The built-in webserver with PHP is a really great feature for testing any web content I create. I Also use a Thinkpad T30 to make sure everything is compatible on the Windows side.
- BareBones BBEdit — is the leading professional HTML and text editor for the Macintosh. And no, "It Still Doesn't Suck."
- Graphic elements are created and edited using Adobe Photoshop and Graphics Converter.
- CSS Edit macrabbit has been a very valuble resource in developing style sheets.
- Webhosting is provided by IDCSOFT.com.
Web Resources
- WordPress — is a state-of-the-art semantic personal publishing platform with a focus on aesthetics, web standards, and usability. What a mouthful. WordPress is both free and priceless at the same time.
- woxy — is always on in the background while I'm working at the computer. Declare your independence from corporate rock and corporate radio!
- A List Apart — A List Apart Magazine explores the design, development, and meaning of web content, with a special focus on techniques and benefits of designing with web standards.
- css Zen Garden — A demonstration of what can be accomplished visually through CSS-based design. Select any style sheet from the list to load it into this page.
- FileMaker Magazine — ISO FileMaker magazine by ISO Productions. The first and only magazine created with FileMaker Pro for FileMaker Pro users by FileMaker Pro professional developers. Lots of great information, and the magazine itself is a showcase of great design.
- FM Forums — the people over at FM Forums have been a great resource to help find answers with development of my FileMaker solutions.
